All you have to do is see one floating above, follow it, see where it lands and talk to the pilot and crew about where you can go to ride in one. Find out if you can arrive when the balloons are being inflated, and when you arrive ask if you can assist in the process. It’s the most enjoyable way of learning and maximizing your ballooning experience. The ride will usually last a little over an hour, though the whole experience will take around 3 to 4 hours. It will be an educational and enjoyable way to spend your early morning or early evening. Because it takes a calm wind to manage the Hot Air Balloon and the most desirable time is early morning dawn, or early evening at dusk.
If your interest is to help out and become a crew member, ask the pilot if he can use you as a crew member. They are usually looking for enthusiast that are willing to learn the craft. Another way to enjoy the sport of Hot Air Ballooning is to find a Hot Air Balloon club in your area. You can find a pilot there that may need volunteer’s on the crew.
Once you learn all of the aspects of Hot Air Ballooning you may want to become an owner/pilot yourself. As a crew member you can learn some of what you need to know, such as set up and assembly, how the mechanics function, proper propane storage-usage-safety, and regulations for air travel and safety procedures. Further learning with time invested will get you there.
