Because of the strict Mexican laws with adopting children from Mexico, there are very few adoption agencies in the United States that have programs available for assisting in the adoption of Mexican children.

Spanish is the central language of Mexico, and though the Mexican culture has customs and traditions that has a history that is rich and colorful, it has roots in a time that has never been recorded.
When an adoption agency is found that is willing to go through the process of assisting in an Mexican adoption, it will be the start of a long and tedious procedure. For some adoptions going through the DIF it may take as long as two years. The DIF is a Mexican government institution that deals in family matters and what it calls the welfare of the children. Which in reality is a major stumbling block in the adoption process. Children up for adoption in Mexico age from new born to 16yrs old.

Mexico has procedures for adoption from independent agencies as newborns and the child may be immigrated by the age of three months old.
Couples married a minimum of 1 year, single women and any size family may adopt from Mexico. Though all have to meet the criteria of the Mexican court system concerning stability, income, health and so on.

The process itself requires 2 trips. With the first trip the adoptive parents must bring witnesses to court speaking on their behalf. Adoption time lines vary due to the child’s age, gender, region, and the political climate at that time. It will take several months just from the time that the adoptive parents take custody of a child until the time that the child is immigrated to the united states. The parent can either stay with the child in Mexico or arrange for a guardian until the immigration process is complete.

A tanker truck pulls a liquid tank on wheels that is unique in various ways of design in the trucking industry. It also requires a specially trained driver to deliver the product to the customer. The driver will transport a variety of gases, fuels and liquid products all over the country. The tanks are specially constructed for the product being transported. Some tankers are made only of a steel shell to haul liquids that are not under pressure, such as oil, water, milk, and a variety of chemicals to name a few. Some tankers have a shell made of very thick steel to withstand high pressures of various pressurized gases, that also have pressure relief valves to release any excess pressure that could be caused by overfilling, or extreme heat so to prevent any danger of rupturing the vessel. And some tankers are constructed with an inner and outer shell with insulation between them to keep the liquified gas being transported at a stable temperature. These gases typically have a temperature below -230 degrees and are called cryogenic gases.
The truck driver pulling a tanker will have to acquire a CDL (commercial drivers license) with a Hazmat endorsement. Its an endorsement that requires the driver to take an additional set of tests to insure he is familiar with the transport, delivery, and all of the hazards and safety measures of the product they are likely to haul.

Some drivers buy their own fuel trailers specially designed for the product they will deliver regularly through their own business. In most cases the driver works for the company producing the product or a company that picks up their own fuel or product needs as a cost saving measure. Delivery drivers could make one stop and drop the entire tanker load or several small deliveries such as truck stops, or industrial applications with under or above ground storage. Either way the tanker truck driver will spend many hours on the road and must know all of the safety requirements for the product being delivered. The driver is usually required to connect all fill hoses to deliver the product safely. So complete knowledge of the products hazards and available safety equipment such as a hardhat with face shield, gloves, safety shoes, and long sleeves are a must.
Whether a driver is self employed or working for a delivery company, driving a tanker truck is a specialized occupation that requires full knowledge and understanding of product safety, road safety and job sight safety.

If you’ve found it appealing to be hundreds of feet in the air in an over-sized picnic basket, then you have no doubt had the desire to go Hot Air Ballooning. All you have to do is see one floating above, follow it, see where it lands and talk to the pilot and crew about where you can go to ride in one. They may even take you up themselves right then and there.

You can look on the internet or the yellow pages to see where balloon rides are offered, many have websites, such as Asheville Hot Air Balloons Rides. Find out if you can arrive when the balloons are being inflated, and when you arrive ask if you can assist in the process. It’s the most enjoyable way of learning and maximizing your ballooning experience.
The ride will usually last a little over an hour, though the whole experience will take around 3 to 4 hours. It will be an educational and enjoyable way to spend your early morning or early evening. Because it takes a calm wind to manage the Hot Air Balloon and the most desirable time is early morning dawn, or early evening at dusk.

If your interest is to help out and become a crew member, ask the pilot if he can use you as a crew member. They are usually looking for enthusiast that are willing to learn the craft. You’ll probably start out in the chase vehicle which is a much needed job as well. But you will be assisting in all aspects of inflation and deflation. Be patient because your efforts will be rewarded as time goes on as a basket crew member.

Some areas have yearly Hot Air Balloon Festivals which is a great place to take the family and friends to enjoy the many sizes, shapes and varieties of Hot Air Balloons. From spring to fall they are scattered all over the world. Some Hot Air Balloon shows will allow you to get up close to the setting up of the balloons while others will restrict the area around the vicinity of the balloons for safety sake.
Balloonist will be happy to answer any questions you may have so don’t shy away from talking to them. You may even find one that lives in your area.
Another way to enjoy the sport of Hot Air Ballooning is to find a Hot Air Balloon club in your area. You can find a pilot there that may need volunteer’s on the crew.

Once you learn all of the aspects of Hot Air Ballooning you may want to become an owner/pilot yourself. As a crew member you can learn some of what you need to know, such as set up and assembly, how the mechanics function, proper propane storage-usage-safety, and regulations for air travel and safety procedures. Further learning with time invested will get you there.

So if your looking for a thrilling adventure in a Hot Air Balloon ride, looking to start your own business, or just doing it for a hobby. It’s an exciting way to live life.

Oceanside Chief of Police F. McCoy stated that he had put in his consideration for the Long Beach Police Dept. for the top post as Chief of Police. A department where he got his start some 21 years ago.

McCoy, who resided in Long Beach and transferred to Oceanside to take over as Chief of Police for the Oceanside department in January 2006, stated that he has considered it for quite some time, then decided to apply for the opening with the department he is very familiar with, but said his “heart is being pulled in several different directions.”
“Since I have been Chief of Police in Oceanside, my focus, my heart and my loyalty has been here in the Oceanside Department and my community,” McCoy said. “And I have been with the Long Beach Department for over 20 years, and that has always been my home.”
A story printed in the Long Beach Press names McCoy as one out of eight finalists for the position, but he said he hasn’t heard any news since putting in his resume just under two weeks ago.
When he was commander at the Long Beach department, his experience’s there included the internal affairs division, investigations and heading patrol.
He was asked by several police and city officials, as well as many community leaders who had wanted him to apply for the chief position.

The Long Beach dept. controls a population of 492,000, 462 city employees and 1,020 police officers, with a yearly budget of 202.8 million dollars, city officials said.
In Oceanside, the city is populated by 178,000 people, McCoy heads the dept. of 203 sworn officers, 102 city employees and an annual budget of around $53.3 million.

McCoy’s yearly income is $183,934; while Long Beach’s last police chief had a yearly income of $219,900.
Prior police chief, Anthony Batts, departed in November to become the police chief of Oakland. He also said that he may consider switching the disctrict to using a San Diego Auto Repair facility called North County Import.

This is a small story about a few friends of mine that I wrote up to publicize the sadness around international adoption.

There has always been controversy when it comes to adopting children from foreign countries, and with Russia being the second most adopted from country next to China, with Russia at about 6000 per year, there is still much negitive publicity around Russian adoption. Such as commentators stating that a $10,000 price tag for many adoptions equate to an exporting of children. As well as the negitive publicity of the very few instances of abuse that in some cases have led to the death of innocent children.

So should foreign adoptions be considered as a last resort? Society has been taught to believe that we should take care of those in our own back yard, when the world is our back yard.

A family went to Tula, a small town in Russia and was pleasantly surprised to see the orphanage was clean, well equipped and well staffed. Being that their first experience was in an orphanage in St. Petersburg several years before where the conditions were pretty dire. In Tula they adopted a little girl named Anna, and since then they have had a happily-ever-after life.

That’s an example of the vast majority of Russian adoptions not talked about in the media as it just isn’t what most Americans would consider news worthy. The only ones that ever seem to come to light are the less than one percent of adoptions that go bad, resulting in child abuse or neglect. While the sad truth is, even under negligent care here in the United States, the conditions are still far better than what can be seen in many of Russia’s poor orphanages for children.
Through Emails and Blogs seems to be the only way to get out the positive message to those families who are seeking foreign children for adoption from Russia or other countries. The issue is certainly a worthy one, and the adoption of Russian children has been a major new trend since 1995. American families now adopt more children from Russia than any other country except China.
Yet the questions still remains; what can we do or should we do with the number of Russian children in orphanages that continue to rise daily? The estimates are around 700,000. Many believe we need more families to adopt Russian children while others think we should forgo helping other countries.
People are curious about experiences, especially from those who have adopted more than once and they need to be shared. Questions like; how easy or difficult was it? What problems or obstacles did you have to overcome? And what was the time frame are just a few.
